Mostly this is to let people know that my mobile is fecked.

I can ring people, receive calls, and receive texts. But I can't text anyone back.

EDIT Fixed now! (17/6/07)

I didn't think this would be a problem since I hate phones and try and keep their use down to a minimum. Naturally, now I've a phone that can't text, people keep sending me texts that require replies.
So if I've not replied to your text, it's because I hate you I just plain can't. However, I have attempted to ring people back if they've asked a direct question, (fruitlessly, and had to leave voicemail messages,) and sometimes email too. I can still receive texts, (so still send 'em if tis urgent or important) I just can't reply - though I can ring you back if tis urgent. I will try and get a new phone/try and get it fixed but I'm very busy at the mo and won't get a chance to go into town to sort this for a while.

Oooh oooh! Found a mini review of the latest issue of The Girly Comic!

You should also take a look at the latest issue of The Girly Comic from Factor Fiction Press. Can you believe that they're on their sixteenth issue already? I certainly couldn't – it doesn't seem like five minutes since the first one came out!

This latest offering is every bit as good as you'd expect from this beacon of the small press scene – and everything you could possibly want lies behind the striking cover by Motodraconis. You've got high camp space drama, two different but equally moving reactions to terrorism, some very twisted romance and much more besides. These are stories and art by some of the finest writers and artists in the world of the British small press. Funny, thought provoking, and moving, this is another anthology you don't want to be without.

"Stories and art by some of the finest writers and artists in the world of the British small press."
That made my day! And I'm chuffed to be in such good and quality company.

And finally, I sent some photos of me in the latest Becky-made corset to my parents. (Some of the less sultry and more "here's the outfit" ones.) Mostly cos my mum loves fancy clothes and would want to see a picture of me wearing a skirt she's made.
Apparently my dad was horrified, aghast! What's happened to her waist? Why is it so small? Is she ill? Somethings's wrong!
My mum had to explain that I was wearing a corset. Though my mum has never worn or seen a proper corset up close* so my dad is probably still convinced I'm on the slippery slope to anorexia or a heroin addicted drug-addict or summat.

* Next time they visit, I intend to get my mum to try on a few of my corsets, just so she can see how they're really made. She tends to confuse them with basques, but only cos she's never examined a proper corset for herself before. Not entirely sure if putting my corsets on her would have much effect though. Her natural waist size is pretty much the same size as my fully corseted waist size.

Back to work now.

You calling me a Fine Artist? How dare you! I am most insulted. ;-)

Fine Artists... snort! This link (http://www.iseek.org/sv/13000.jsp?id=100317) says it all.

Well done on the review!

That's the point.

Google for...
Career + Fine Art = Page does not exist... cannot be found.

Obscurely metaphorical, made me laugh.

Yeah. Even practical artists (for example illustrators like [livejournal.com profile] belak_krin) find it nigh impossible to find work.

Gasp! *Horror!*

One should not lump Illustrators in the same boat as Fine Artists. Very different animal.

Heh heh, the subtle hierarchies and tribalism of various artist groups does amuse me. You get a certain wodge of it in Games Dev, but it's very subtle. Almost imperceptible to outsiders.

I've no doubt at all that programmers have their own class system, I can sense it...just, but it's exact nuances will always be impenetrable to me, as a non-programmer. It's like their own secret lingo.

But I'm not lumping them together.
Both are artists while fine artists create art for the sake of it, Illustrators work for a specific purpose, i.e. there's actually a proper market for them rather than just posh people who can afford to go to galleries and buy fine art. And if even they struggle, no wonder fine artists have no hope to get anywhere.

Oh, I can imagine, photographers are the same.
