So the Game of Thrones Exhibition was touring; Toronto, New York, Sao Paulo, Amsterdam and er... Belfast. Now I thought I might just be able to manage a trip in Europe, and I'd already been to Amsterdam. Also, as luck would have it, I had a chum in Belfast who agreed to put me up. (or should that be, put up with me.) Cheers [livejournal.com profile] andyluke!

I packed for Easyjet, and managed to squeeze my Lannister frock into my hand luggage. (The frock has been getting quite a few outings since I got it!) Here I am having breakfast at Andy's.

We called a taxi, as I wasn't sure Belfast would be ready for me parading though the streets in a big shiny frock (especially one that is a bit more orange than red - groan!) Certainly when I stepped out of the door the taxi driver did a gigantic double-take and pronounced me insane. However, it turned out he was a big Game of Thrones fan and we spent the entire journey discussing the show.

Um, yeah. I was pretty much the ONLY person outrageously dressed up. I only spotted one other person who'd made an effort - a chap who'd dressed in (fake) chain-mail and red tunic. I got looks. There was confusion. However, we'd arrived ridiculously early and were let in ahead of our scheduled tickets, which was pretty cool, as the exhibition was not at all crowded.

But enough about me... let's see the stuff!

Now I'd been warned that at previous exhibitions the Iron Throne had been a bit pants, with huge queues and only one photo allowed each, but as we were through the door at 9am, there was barely any queue and we went back again and again to get the perfect shots on the throne!

More on flickr. (Assuming crappy new-look flickr is actually working and not endlessly crashing.)

Afterwards we did the Titanic exhibition - riding in the swingy claw ride of industrial doom! I kept getting stopped and quizzed by astonished little old American ladies, and ending up having to pose with my arm round so many nanas. It was cute though.

However, I did taxi back to change into something a little more subdued to visit the Shankill Road.

Arf! I think she was pretty chuffed to wear my big gold tiara, that alone was worth dressing up for. :)

I am impressed with your nerve to get all dressed up (And impressed that you managed to get the dress in easy-jet specification luggage)!

My impression is that all small girls like tiaras. The bigger and sparklier the better!

I'm famed for my ability to travel light, even when dressing up. Everything for the weekend went into 1 Easyjet sized hand luggage. Easyjet is luxurious compared to Ryanair or Wizz.
As for the tiara, that's a proper Butler and Wilson jobby, super sparkly and pretty heavy on the head too!
