I've finally cracked and bought one of those Britta water filters.
I mean, I'd accepted the fact that tap water tastes different around the country, and had been trying my best to ignore the foul chemical flavour of the water up here. I'd even tried to ignore the fact that the water runs out of the tap white and opaque as milk, so you have to wait for it to settle and try not to look too closely at the horrid scum swirling idly on the top of your drink.
But the final straw was the local news going on about how Northwest water had been steadily improving in quality for the past 10 years, but was still, even now, below EU standard for drinking water.
To quote that really annoying Britta advert on the tv...
I like my water frozen.
I like my water bubbling.
I like my tap water conforming to EU standards.
Bah!
