Pinchy Pinchy!
Jun. 17th, 2004 12:59 pmSaw this on
velvetfur's journal. I just had to pinch it. (I love obscure words.)
"There's a word in the Fuegian language of Argentina which the Guinness Book of Records lists as the most difficult word for lexicographers to define succinctly - the word is 'mamihlatanapai', and it's definition is 'looking at each other hoping that the other person will do something that both parties want but neither is willing to do'. (Fuegian is a minority Native American language named after the region where it's spoken, Tierra del Fuego in Argentina)"
Mamihlatanapai! This happens to me all the time, usually when Other-Half and I are lolling on the sofa waiting for the other to crack and get up to make a nice pot of tea. We share a psychic tea craving connection by all accounts.
Other news, I think I might have at last shaken off my lethargy of the last few days and started doing some spare-time art again at last. It's always hard when you come to the end of a project. I seem to need a bit of time to empty my mental scratch-disk and re-format my brain before starting anything new, though I've got a few mini-tasks to sort out before I lurch fully into the new (and scary for me) Toon.
