Carnival is teh serious business!

It was AWESOME! And despite the scary warnings on the official website (leave credit cards at home! Pickpockets! Use a disposable camera!) and previous scare stories I had no trouble at all. Mind you, I did turn up early - so early the streets seemed a bit empty, but I had time to buy and munch up some tasty crispy jerk pork and snaffle a prime viewing spot on Chepstow Road, on a posh porch several steps up - great for photos. I stayed for about 3 and a half hours until the batteries ran out on my camera and the tea ran out in my thermos, and anyway I wanted to get back and chill for a bit before going back out in the evening for the Animation Fest. Mind you, it was starting to get packed out by then, and walking back took me in the opposite direction through an enormous and endless crowd of people on their way to the carnival. I shall try and see it again next year - but might stick to getting there early again, seemed like a good move!
