Vreth spotted me in the front row, and came over to shake my hand... in the middle of the gig... while singing... twice! I was not expecting that at all, I mean, he was in the middle of a gig, kind of busy! I was able to have a very quick chat with him after the gig, and er, yeah. He remembers me. GAH.

Also... new discovery (for me) Skálmöld where damned good. Epic Icelandic skald-singing. Read up in my review and check 'em out.

I've been having trouble with the block editing in Wordpress, chunks that I wrote vanished and had to be re-written. (I think this is connected to the network issues I have working from Bumcrack.) However, I did a copy paste backup of the text to Dreamwidth and discovered that the alt text is working!

It is a lot of extra effort to alt text the photos, but if I can I will try and go back adding alt to previous entries. If nothing else I can try and describe the humour in the photos.

I have added alt text onto each photo according to the instructions for wordpress (using the block editor) yet for some reason the sodding alt text is not showing up even though it is there in the editor. Can someone check? Can you see it? How do I get it to work? AAARGH! This is really frustrating! Since my reviews are about music bands, I thought I ought to try and get alt text working for any sight impaired fans, so the fact that the alt text doesn't seem to be working is really annoying.

I mean the alt text on the photos of the review I wrote on wordpress here, which is my public blog. Not the single picture here. Yeah I know, clicking that extra link is a gigantic hardship.

Eurovision 2022

Fuck me... this video, it's a tear jerker. (I'd heard that the band are returning to the front line in Ukraine now.)

There has been the odd comment of..."well of course Ukraine was going to win." (Implying that the song itself was not good enough.) I confess, I am personally not a fan of the rapped bits but the other vocals are haunting and mesmerising which I utterly loved, and they were great on stage too.

For those who do not know how points are given, the scoring is more significant than at first glance. You see, half the points are given by a team of judges in 40 countries, and Ukraine got average points overall. It was only when the peoples' votes came in that Ukraine won by a landslide number of points from the phone ins. A political message? Certainly, but not a bad one, the people of Europe support Ukraine, albeit the sort of people that watch Eurovision. That is actually a more subtly powerful message than might be imagined at a cursory glance.

998 Games and stuffs!

Copy pasted from thewayne, as he sums it up nicely and I have nothing further to add, beyond that it is well worth a flick through the list of games they are giving away...lots of "indie" stuff.

The bundle contains NINE HUNDRED AND NINETY-EIGHT GAMES, they run in Windows, Mac, Linux, and in browsers. The bundle includes physical games (print and play), computer games, game assets (graphics, tiles, etc.), soundtracks, tools, comics, and books.

In other words, LOTS of stuff!

The original goal was to raise (cue Dr. Evil voice) ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

The current goal is now at SIX MILLION DOLLARS, and they've raised 5.355 MILLION as of this post!

The campaign ends in three days as of me writing this.

Obviously I can't go into any real detail about what all is in the campaign, there's just too much in it. A minimum donation of $10 gets you everything. The average contribution has been $14, the biggest has been $9,000!

Bag for life!

So I've been trying to make an effort for the environment. Such as, where possible avoiding plastic, bags, packaging, pointless landfill plastic items, and synthetic fibres. Where possible.

Because OBVIOUSLY no one can be perfect in this, and I have my disgusting vices. But I am creeped out by microfibers entering the water table, drinking water and the food chain. It turns out that clothes with synthetic fibres shed a fuck of a lot of plastic into the water table every time we wash them.
Now, I often use a washing bag to protect certain items of clothing from being ripped or damaged, or to protect my washing machine from damage.

So why not use a bag that also helps keep these microfibers out of the water table? I'm using a bag anyway, often enough. It's no big effort and my clothes and washing machine will last longer.

Thus I have bought these... Guppyfriend washing bags. There are loads of washing bags for sale on Amazon, but as far as I know, only these filter out the microplastic.

And they seem pretty roomy.

Of course, I still need to work out how best to dispose of the collected fluff (fill a plastic bottle and put that bottle in the recycling?) But posted here... in the hope that others will consider using these bags. Every little helps right? Better than nothing right?

Yes you can reuse "disposable" masks.

Useful info thread... you can re use "disposable" masks. I have been doing so, but I am now going to really reuse them and rotate, as the environmental aspect of throwing them away had been bugging me.

I have used washable cloth masks a heck of a lot, but with omicron and a lot of high risk situations (such as flying or the occasional gig in Norway) I use ffp3s.
